A Day in the HVAC Field Keeping Communities Warm

Morning Briefing – 6:30 AM

The day starts early at Kelly Heating and Air, as we gather for our morning briefing. The dispatch board is already filled with heating service calls across Clinton, Camanche, and the surrounding communities. Winter in Iowa and Illinois doesn’t wait for anyone, and neither do we.

First Call – 7:15 AM

Our first stop is in Morrison, IL, where a family woke up to a cold house. After a thorough inspection, it’s clear their furnace needs immediate attention. These are the moments when our extensive training pays off – identifying the issue quickly means getting heat restored faster.

Mid-Morning – 9:30 AM

Heading to Thomson, IL for a scheduled furnace maintenance check. Preventative maintenance is crucial, and we always remind our customers that regular service helps avoid those midnight emergency calls. While performing the inspection, I discover a wearing blower motor that could have caused problems in the near future.

Afternoon Rush – 1:00 PM

The afternoon brings a furnace replacement consultation in McCausland, IA. The homeowner’s unit is over 20 years old, and we discuss energy-efficient options that could save them money in the long run. These conversations are important – helping customers make informed decisions about their home heating systems.

Emergency Call – 3:30 PM

Just as I’m finishing up paperwork, an emergency call comes in from Camanche. An elderly resident’s heating system has completely shut down. These are the calls that remind us why we do this work – ensuring our community stays warm and safe during the cold months.

End of Day – 5:45 PM

Back at the shop, I complete my service reports and prepare for tomorrow. Being part of the Kelly Heating and Air team means being ready for whatever the next day brings, whether it’s:

  • Routine maintenance checks
  • Emergency repairs
  • System replacements
  • Heating consultations

Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to serve our communities, and that’s what makes this job rewarding. Whether it’s Clinton, Camanche, Morrison, Thomson, or McCausland, we’re proud to keep our neighbors warm and comfortable all winter long.
